Abstract
The article deals with the question on development of agriculture of the Gorodets culture`s population in the I millennium BC. There is a view that slash agriculture has been extended in the territory of the forest zone this time. However, this fact is contrary to the paucity of finds of chopping tools in the Gorodets culture` settlements, without which it is impossible the development of slash agriculture.
